Colour and revindication: Mari Chordà presented for the first time at MACBA.
We explore the work of Mari Chordà in the exhibition ‘Mari Chordà … and many other things’ at the MACBA, with curator Teresa Grandas.
Chordà (Amposta, 1942) is an artist who integrates image, language and social action in a dialogue between pop and psychedelia. This retrospective is a tribute to the figure of this woman artist, whose feminist stance aims to make the work of other women more visible.
A pioneer of her generation in the expression of free femininity and maternity, she creates attractive forms and colours through her pictorial and poetic practice, with a position that defends women’s work and seeks to make it visible.
During the visit we enjoyed the poems and games presented by Chordà, together with her artworks, including three pieces acquired by the MACBA Foundation in 2022 thanks to the Banco Sabadell Foundation: Líquidos (1966), Lágrimas (1968) and Coitus Pop (1968).
