Fundación Repsol renews the long-term loan agreement with the MACBA Foundation

Fecha de inicio:

Last Friday, May 28th, took place the signing act for the renewal of the long-term loan agreement between Fundación Repsol and the MACBA Foundation. The agreement was signed by the Repsol Chairman, Antoni Brufau, and the president of the MACBA Foundation, Ainhoa Grandes.

The collaboration of Fundación Repsol has been fundamental to the extension of the MACBA Collection as well as to the development of MACBA’s Accessibility Programme.

Fundación Repsol’s commitment began in 1998 with the donation of Rinzen by Antoni Tàpies, one of the most remarkable pieces of the artist and exhibited permanently in the museum. In 2001 another agreement enabled the acquisition of 41 works by 20 highly recognised artists among the national and international scene, such as Muntadas, Constant, Richard Hamilton, Cildo Meireles, Ignasi Aballí or Gordon Matta-Clark.

Apart from this major contribution to the collection of the museum, in 2015 Fundación Repsol joined MACBA’s Accessibility Programme, aimed at groups with hearing and visual disability. Thanks to this support the museum has consolidated the accessibility project, which in 2016 could be extended to the groups with cognitive disability and which reaffirmed MACBA as a leader institution in social innovation and integration among the cultural sector.

Thus, the renewal of the long-term loan agreement between Fundación Repsol and the MACBA Foundation reinforces a key commitment for the cultural and social mission of MACBA.
